Discover the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park and its coves, beaches, cliffs and protected sites of great biological value. It features 38 natural habitats, 17 of which are of European community interest and priority zones for the conservation of its ancient heritage.
Between the Montgrí Massif and the Medes Islands around 189 species of birds have been recorded. These notably include seabirds, birds of prey and rock or marsh dwellers.
Sea, river and mountain landscapes combine in a single natural park, presided by the Castle of Montgrí, the regional emblem that was built between 1294 and 1301 upon order of King Jaume II.
The uniqueness of the zone, its high biological value and wealth of flora and fauna warranted its protection as a natural area that perfectly represents the Mediterranean landscape.
